Differential Screening of Regional Pain in Musculoskeletal Practice covers screening across the musculoskeletal system, outlining the biochemical basis for pain. The book is comprised of ten chapters covering each different region of the musculoskeletal system. This book begins with an introduction and discussion of thought process in regional pain. The second chapter investigates the chemical basis of the human body in relation to pain, with the third covering drug-induced regional pain. Fourth chapter focuses on cervical pain. The cervical region comprises of seven cervical vertebrae, musculature, ligaments and nerves, and the relevant viscera comprising the heart, endocrine glands, lymph nodes, vascular structures and the special organs including the ear, nose and throat. The fifth chapter describes the pain in thoracic region, which comprises the twelve thoracic vertebrae, the rib cage, muscles, ligaments, nerves and the relevant viscera comprising the heart, lungs, spleen and gallbladder. The lumbar vertebrae support the upper part of the body and transmit their weight to the pelvis and lower extremities. Lumbopelvic pain has been briefly discussed in sixth chapter. Subsequent chapters cover specific regions in detail including hip, knee, ankle, foot, shoulder, elbow, and wrist and hand pain.
