The book deals with practical clinical oncology and is a welcome, important and necessary addition to the existing literature on cancer. This is the first composite Indian text on cancer, written by numerous well-known oncologists and other distinguished doctors associated with the diagnosis and management of cancer, working in our country. The incidence, causative factors and epidemiology of various cancers in our country, their natural history and the problems in diagnosis and management in a socio-economic milieu so different from the West have been adequately high-lighted. The present text provides a practical approach to oncologists, surgeons, physicians, pathologists, radiologists treating common cancers outside tertiary centers. The text also stresses the importance of a team effort involving various disciplines in the management and care of each cancer patient. The struggle against cancer will continue unabated. It is implicit within the text that there will never be a magic bullet that will cure all cancers. One foresees in the near future some more cancers being cured and some more contained.
