This is not a reference manual to keep on the shelf, but rather it is designed to be read through, and in less than a fortnight. A student who imbibes the material in this book will be well prepared to work as resident on the cardiology service. Details of electrophysiology and interventional cardiology are beyond the scope of this book. Readers can easily retrieve this information elsewhere. Attempt has been made to keep the language simple and easy to understand. Discipline of cardiovascular medicine is difficult and demanding. Understanding of basic principles is very essential because so much depend on this.
