This textbook provides with a basic understanding of the principles that underlie the vast field of spinal disorders. It highlights the fundamental aspects of anatomy, biomechanics, diagnoses and management of spinal disorders. The textbook is organized into four sections that correspond to the four stages of the spine care continuum, that is, basic science and spinal assessment, non-invasive therapeutic intervention, spinal injection and surgical management. Each section focuses on evidence-based, patient-centric applications of therapeutic modalities. Particular emphasis is placed on both operative and nonoperative management of spinal conditions. In order to provide high-quality, evidence-based care and maximize patient outcomes, a multidisciplinary patient care team should include primary care physicians, radiologists, neurologists, psychiatrists, internists, rheumatologists, physiatrists, anesthesiologists, neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons. This textbook helps both medical professionals and patients to further their understanding and knowledge of spinal conditions.
