The book “MDR and XDR Tuberculosis” summarizes the current status of knowledge on drug-resistant tuberculosis and also discusses the latest practical approach to various diagnostic and treatment modalities for drug-resistant tuberculosis, multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB). Tuberculosis still continues to be the world’s most important infectious cause of morbidity and mortality. It has been divided into 27 chapters covering all the aspects of drug-resistant tuberculosis ranging from detailed epidemiology, practical approach to diagnosis and treatment of MDR and XDR tuberculosis including HIV and drug-resistant tuberculosis. Special chapters on case-based approach to treatment of MDR-TB and XDR-TB, drug-resistant tuberculosis in children and extrapulmonary tuberculosis, fluoroquinolone resistance, infection control in drug-resistant tuberculosis and newer antituberculosis drugs are also included. Chapter on DR-TB in children, DR-TB in extrapulmonary tuberculosis, fluoroquinolone resistance, infection control in DR-TB and newer antituberculosis drugs are also included.
